The Benanti family has been tending to some of Sicily’s oldest vines since Giuseppe Benanti began expanding the grape acreage of his father’s farm in the late 1890s. Despite the winery’s limited production, Benanti is among the most well-known of Etna’s producers, thanks to being one of the earliest pioneers in the region. The Grecale, a Mediterranean wind from the northeast, blows more or less continually, giving the wines a trademark saltiness and acidity which pairs perfectly with Mourad’s cuisine!
